James Roy Stringer, 64, of Norwood Lane in Science Hill, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Somerset, KY on Nov. 7, 1944, son of the late Lonnie & Isabelle (Childers) Stringer. He was a concrete finisher and a vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his four children, David Stringer, Roy Lee & (Angela) Stringer, Connie & (Bill) Floyd and Misty Marie May, all of Science Hill; seven brothers, Hubert & (Lucy) Stringer, Dale & (Freida) Stringer, Maurice & (Kathy) Stringer, Curtis Stringer, all of Somerset; Larry & (Shirley) Stringer and Gene & (Holly) Stringer, both of Science Hill; and Donald & (Ima) Stringer of Frankfort, IN; four sisters, Bernice Alcorn of Mt. Washington, KY; Wanda & (Jim) Armstrong of Louisville, KY, Sandra & (Bill) Estes of Eubank, and Lynn & (Allen) Coonce of Kaitlyn, GA; five grandchildren, Cameron Lee Stringer, Vanessa Noel Mae Floyd, Caleb James Stringer, William Tyler Floyd and Jimmy Ray O'dell May.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Mae Stringer, his parents and two brothers, Fred Oscar and Hollis Stringer.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, with Bro. Mark Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in the Sweet Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 pm Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the funeral home.
