Larry Gayle Chaney, 59, of Arthur Chaney Road in Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Veterans Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on July 14, 1949, son of the late Arthur and Cuba Sowders Chaney. He was a farmer and a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam war. He is survived by one brother, Tommy & (Dean) Chaney of the Buffalo community, sister-in-law, Bertean Chaney of Somerset, three nieces, Rhonda and Benny Burdine of Lexington, Teresa and Bobby Cromer of Somerset and Jessica and Kevin Blevins of Mt. Vernon, KY, one nephew, Tommy Chaney Jr., of Mt. Vernon, KY, very special friend, Eilene Perkins of Somerset and great-nieces and nephews, Calista Burdine, Brian Burdine, Natasha Cromer, Dustin Cromer, Marina Blevins and Jeremiah Blevins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby Chaney. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Meece and Bro. Larry Proffitt officiating. Burial will be in Upper Line Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
