Mafre Louise Eldridge

Mafre Louise Dick Eldridge, 89, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the presence of her family. She was born in Casey County, Kentucky on February 2, 1919, daughter of the late Ephraim Oliver and Ibbie Wesley Dick. She was married in June of 1938 to Barnett Eldridge, who preceded her in death in January of 1976. She was a life long member of Science Hill United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer for more than 25 years. She was also a member and past president of the Science Hill Garden Club and worked in the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International. She is survived by one son, Wayne & (Sharlene) Eldridge of Science Hill and Surfside Beach, SC, one daughter, Susan & (Clark "Hop") Dugger of Somerset, three grandsons, Richard & (Vonda) Eldridge of Russell Springs, Mark & (Julie) Eldridge of West Chester, OH and Brandon and (Julena) Dugger of Somerset, one granddaughter, Staci & (Brad) Spalding of Louisville, five great-grandchildren, Olivia Eldridge of Russell Springs, Ryan and Sarah Eldridge of West Chester, OH and Brysen and BrynLee Dugger of Somerset and two sisters, Elma Ponser of Science Hill and Ilema Hayden of Danville. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Science Hill United Methodist Church with Bro. Wayne Watts officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:30 PM Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan, the Science Hill United Methodist Church or the Science Hill Cemetery Association. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
