James D. Barber, 84, of Old Cuba Road in Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Mintonville, Kentucky on October 26, 1924, son of the late Dillard and Hettie Rainwater Barber. He was a truck driver for Detherage Freight Line and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Ashley Barber of Eubank, two sons, Wayne Barber of Smiths Grove, KY and Stephen Barber of Eubank, one daughter, Donna & (David) Schmidt of London, one sister, Carlie Roy of Bethel Ridge and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Phillip, Marvin, Marcus and Allen Barber and one sister, Ilene Elliott.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 12, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Watts officiating.
Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Mintonville, Bethel Ridge or Spaw Cemetery Funds.
