Douglas M. Slone, 72, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on August 15, 1942, son of the late James Lansford and Soonie Mavis McCurry Slone. He was a retired iron worker from Duncan Machinery Movers and a member of the Iron Workers Union. He was a member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Richard M. Slone of Danville, KY and Robert D. Slone & (Donna) of Waynesburg, two daughters, Donna K. Slone & (Steve) and Carrie Jean Slone of Florida, three brothers, Jim Slone of Stanford, KY, Shannon Slone of Alabama and Leo Slone & (Gaynell) of Waynesburg, one sister, Dixie Smith of Lancaster, KY, five grandchildren, Madison Paige Slone, Dustin Floyd Slone, Steven Douglas Slone, Shelby Annona Slone and Lane Robert Slone and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tuanya Lee Slone, two brothers, Quentin Slone and Cleo Slone and four sisters, Vivin Vane Slone, Eden Gay Gray, Melba Cox and Joyce Robbins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 8, 2015 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Mullins officiating.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #18 of Lincoln County.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
