Virgil Brent Floyd, son of the late Everet and Zora Burton Floyd, was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 15, 1921 and departed this life on February 15, 2006 in Danville, Illinois at the age of 84 years.
He worked as a laborer for Stokley's Canning Factory and was a farmer in the Potomac Area. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, a past member of Hoopeston VFW Post #4826 and Moose Lodge. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. His hobbies were playing his banjo, farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Roberta Floyd and Ginger Sturgeon, a sister, Opal Merritt, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Neeley Floyd, whom he married in 1946 and who died in 1973, his parents, two brothers, Charlie and Sanford Floyd and a sister, Wanda Blair.
A funeral service will be at 11 AM Friday, February 24, 2006 with Bro. Tim Brown officiating.
Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation from 5 - 8 PM Thursday.
