Hargis Bates

Hargis Bates, 71, of West Ridge Road in Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on October 29, 1937, son of the late Farris and Lettie Johnson Bates. He was a farmer. He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Bates Padgett of Eubank, one brother, Raymond Bates of Eubank, two sisters, Mazie Holbrook of Whitesburg, KY and Carolyn Gilreath of Williamsburg, KY and his former wife, Faye Bates of Eubank. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Carlos Bates and one sister, Hazel Young. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Bates Family Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
