Carolyn Sue Carlton

Carolyn Sue Poynter Carlton, 72, of Somerset, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord our savior on Saturday, August 22, 2015. She was at her residence with her family and friends by her side. She was born in the Bobtown community on August 10, 1943, daughter of the late Alonzo Poynter and Maggie Phelps Poynter Burnett. She was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed going to church, reading, gardening and being with her family and friends. She met and fell in love with the late Londis Elza Carlton, whom she married on September 26, 1959. Together they had a total of nine children. She is survived by five sons, Jimmy & (Marsha) Carlton, David & (Teresa) Carlton, Steven Carlton, Kevin Carlton and Nathan & (Jessica) Carlton, all of Somerset, four daughters, Beverly & (Ritchie) Anderson of Science Hill, Judy & (Phillip) Vaughn, Paula & (George O'Dell) Gilliam and Leca & (Caleb Jr.) Napier, all of Somerset, seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Gary & (Helen) Poynter of Eubank, Rick & (Sheila) Poynter and William "Dale" Poynter, both of Linton, IN and sisters and brothers-in-law, Donald and Sue Anderson, Raymond and Joyce Poynter and Dennis and Norma Carlton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Londis Elza Carlton, who died on March 2, 2015, her parents, one brother, James "Jim" Poynter, one sister, Patricia Poynter and nephew, Drum Nelson Poynter. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 AM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
