Harold Clayton Leigh, 73, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his residence following a short illness.
He was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on April 26, 1935, son of the late Chester and Stella Smith Leigh. He was retired from Leather Specialty in Cincinnati. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Eubank, Kentucky and attended the Church of God of the Union Assembly in Hamilton, Ohio. He was an ordained minister who loved the Lord and loved to preach the word of God. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, writing, singing and playing country and gospel music.
He was the beloved husband for 14 years of Johnie Freeman Leigh, the loving dad of Sharon Wesley of Science Hill and Debra & (Jerry) Allen of Monticello, KY and loving paw-paw of Stacey Wesley and Kevin Wesley, both of Science Hill. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy & (Goldie) Leigh of Lexington, KY and Coy & (Wilda) Leigh of Antioch, KY, one sister, Susie & (Casey) Jones of Waynesburg and many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Shirley Brown Leigh, one son, Harold William Leigh, three brothers, Clifford "Deter", Freddie and Milford Leigh.
A funeral service will be held at 7 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 at Gwen Mooney Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH. A funeral service will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill, KY.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday at Gwen Mooney Funeral Home and after 2 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
