Betty Jean Shelton, 74, of Jamestown, Kentucky, formerly of Pulaski County, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Mary Lou Stephens.
She was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on May 6, 1934, daughter of the late Uzera and Alice Dungan Collins. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, IN. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie & (Donna) Shelton of Greenfield, IN and Danny & (Cindy) Shelton of Kennard, IN, two daughters, Carolyn & (Mickey) Garner of Jamestown, KY and Mary Lou Stephens of Russell Springs, KY, special caregiver, Betty Mann of Jamestown, KY, three brothers, Harold & (Blanche) Collins of Georgetown, KY and John & (Evelyn) Collins and Clay & (Jeanie) Collins, both of Eubank, one sister, Doris & (Don) Henry of Winchester, KY, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shelton, whom she married on September 1, 1950 and who died on December 24, 1989, her parents, son-in-law, Terry C. Stephens and two sisters, Bessie Shelton, who was her twin and Patricia Ann Collins.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 17, 2009 at Northside Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Shelton, Bro. David Green, Dr. Greg Ryan and Bro. Mike Coppersmith officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 12 Noon Friday at the church.
Donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
