Fred Williams, 85, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Leslie County, Kentucky on February 5, 1924, son of the late Burley and Maggie Pennington Williams. He was a farmer and a retired factory supervisor. He was also a beekeeper. He was a member of Science Hill Church of Christ. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Wells Williams of Science Hill, one son, Dwight Williams of Science Hill, three daughters, Patricia & (Raymond) Godby of Somerset, Loretta & (Donald) Rinthen of Lancaster, KY and Debra & (Ronnie) Norton of Science Hill, two sisters, Leetha Pace and Leila Adams, both of Leslie County, KY, thirteen grandchildren, Robert Williams, Jeffrey Williams, Rebecca Holst, Michelle Duncan, Stephen Scott Williams, Ryan Edward Williams, James Earl Herren, William Ashley Herren, Gary Herren Jr., Richard Herren, Edward Herren, Brian Christopher Norton and Brandon Michael Norton, eighteen great-grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Godby, Ashlyn Duncan, Caleb Duncan, Eden Duncan, T.J. Williams, Bryan Heuberger, Tyler Heuberger, Kyle Heuberger, Krystal Leann Gideon, Michael Logan Williams, Kesandra Lynn Williams, Alexis Morgan Diane Williams, Paige Herren, Austyn Herren, Landon Herren, Hannah Herren, Danny Rae Herren and Alex Joseph Norton and two great-great-grandchildren, Emily Godby and Andrea Godby. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Russell Williams, three brothers, Hershel Williams, Gillis Williams and Jack Owen Williams, who died in infancy and one sister, Edith Williams. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with John Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery with military honors by the 138th Field Artillery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
