William Claude Spaw

September 11, 1925 — June 29, 2016

William Claude Spaw, 90, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on September 11, 1925, son of the late William Hershel and Gertie Ethel Thompson Spaw. He was the oldest living member of Science Hill United Methodist Church and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Velma Jean Cain Spaw of Science Hill, one son, Larry Parker & (Pati) Spaw, one daughter, Patty & (Jim) Laflin, both of Cincinnat, OH, seven siblings, Betty Smith, Shirley Flynn, Ronald Spaw, Eunice Norfleet, Geneva Romines, Sandra Utley and Judy Hoffman, grandchildren, William Michael Laflin, Rhea Michelle Anderson, James Eric Laflin, Jason Everett Laflin, Aaron Shayne Laflin,Timothy Damian Spaw and Jeremy Douglas Spaw thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Josephine Spaw, his parents, siblings, Millard Spaw, Stanley Spaw, Tony Spaw, Johnny Spaw and Martha Hughes. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, July 1, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will be in Valley Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 Noon Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
