Mary Lee Poynter

Mary Lee Poynter, 86, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on July 25, 1929, daughter of the late Berlin and Della Vaught Thurman. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Earl Poynter, two sons, Steve & (Faye) Poynter of Science Hill and Roger & (Lisa) Poynter of Ferguson, five daughters, Lois Caplinger, Kathy & (Dan) Kuntz and Nancy & (Dan) Ralston, all of Shelbyville, IN, Janice & (James) Poynter of New Palestine, IN and Tina & (Doug) Walton of Shelbyville, IN, one brother, Bennie & (Wilma) Thurman of Eubank, two sisters, Hazel & (Russell) Dick of Science Hill, Grace & (Grover) Hougland of Indianapolis, IN, seventeen grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Bobby Poynter, two brothers, Lester Thurman and Bud Thurman and five sisters, Betty Smith, Jessie Poynter, Maxine White, Christine Roosa and Francis Hart and three grandchildren, John Burdine, Bradley Barngrover and Eric Ralston. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 11, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 PM Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
