Ellis Watson, 81, of New Castle, Indiana, formerly of the Norwood community in Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Lindberg Crossing Senior Living in Anderson, IN.
Ellis was born in Monticello, Kentucky on July 27, 1935, son of the late John Otto and Algie Cora (Martin) Watson.
He was a minister of the Gospel, who pastored churches throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. A big part of his ministry was evangelistic work and revival meetings. He began the work at New Hope Holiness Church in Lewisville, IN and of late attended Southside Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. Ellis was also a self-employed building contractor with a master electricians license involved with residential and commercial construction. Through this experience he built several churches in Kentucky and Indiana.
He is survived by three sons, Wade & (Teresa) Watson of Trafalgar, IN, Terry & (Nancy) Watson of New Castle, IN and Randy & (Carol) Watson of Science Hill, KY; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Sevilla Upchurch of Fishers, IN, Cathy Gobel Sutton of Monticello, KY, John D. Watson of Monticello, KY and Reed & (Donna) Watson of Science Hill, KY.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Susie Hollars Watson; brothers, Phil and wife Lucille Watson, Rayola Watson, Bill Watson and Jay C. Watson; sister Sylvia and husband Glenn McFalls; brother-in-law, Charlie Upchurch, as well as many dear members of the Hollars family.
Visitation will be from 9 AM to 12 PM Monday, August 8 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at Parnell Cemetery in Monticello, KY with Bro. Scott Thrasher officiating.
Burial will be in Parnell Cemetery.
