Danny Ray Blanton Sr., 64, of the Woodstock community, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on July 16, 1944, son of the late Reuben and Hilda Singleton Blanton. He was a truck driver, hauling blocks for several years and hauling other things in the past. He liked fishing, boating, working on cars, mowers, weed eaters and sitting on the front porch watching traffic. He was a member of Woodstock Baptist Church and had the Lord as his savior.
He is survived by his wife of 44 1/2 years, Janie Howard Blanton, three sons, Gabriel & (Christy) King of Somerset, Danny & (Heather) Blanton Jr. of Lexington, KY and John & (Brandii) Blanton of Somerset, three daughters, Penny Gibson of Bronston, Jessica Blanton of Woodstock and Carla Baker of Somerset, nine grandchildren, Reuben Steiner, Amanda Pence, William King, Valerie Gibson, Jonathan Gibson, Lucas Birchfield, Jadon Blanton, Chloe Dykes and Caleb Blanton, five great-grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Jermiah Johnson, Thomas Litsey, Karena D. Steiner and James Steiner and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Blanton and Leon Blanton, one sister, Frances Colson and one grandson, Austin Dykes, who died in infancy.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Donavon Burton officiating.
Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
