Glyndon O. Vitatoe, son of the late Luther Owen and Nora Heath Vitatoe, was born in Linnet, Kentucky on February 26, 1922 and departed this life on April 18, 2006 at the age of 84 years.
He was a retired welder for Inland Steel and attended Ferguson United Methodist Church. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran having attained the rank of PFC, a member of the Kentucky Colonels, Somerset Masonic Lodge #111, United Mine Workers and was on the board of directors for God's Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evalee Gayheart Vitatoe of Somerset, four children, Trudy & (Terry) Case of Georgetown, Gary & (Doris) Vitatoe of Decater, Indiana, Linda & (Fred) Partin of Nancy and Randy & (Pat) Vitatoe of Somerset, two sisters, Gypsy Smith and Fern Mosley both of Somerset, four grandchildren, Leslee Newsom of Amarillo, Texas, Beth & (Jimmy) Blankenship and Justin & (Lisa) Case both of Lexington and Glyndon Vitatoe of Fort Wayne, Indiana, seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn Newsom, Hunter Blankenship, Mazie Case, Alexander Vitatoe, Savannah Gerald and Hannah Jo Gerald and a step-grandchild, Jessica Gerald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Pete Vitatoe and a sister, Clara Holbrook.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, April 21, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral with Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation from 6-8 PM Thursday.
