Geneva Christine Thurman Roosa, daughter of the late Berlin and Della Vaught Thurman, was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on September 25, 1922 and departed this life on April 19, 2006 at the age of 83 years.
She was a longtime waitress, most notably in the 1960's at the Old Troys Restaurant Downtown and Higgins Restaurant at Shelby and Raymond Streets. She was a member of the Garfield Heights Church of Christ.
She is survived by four sons, Glen & (Carol) Skiver, Richard Skiver, Kenneth & (Sherry) Roosa and Harold "Buster" & (Judy) Roosa all of Indiana, a daughter, Sandra Dusty Twigg of Indiana, a brother, Bennie & (Wilma) Thurman of Eubank, four sisters, Mary & (Earl) Poynter of Science Hill, Betty & (Hubert) Smith of Eubank, Hazel & (Russell) Dick of Science Hill and Grace & (Grover) Hougland of Indianapolis, Indiana, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Roosa, a son, Homer Lee Smith, Jr., two brothers, Lester and Eugene Thurman and three sisters, Jessie Poynter, Maxine White and Lottie Frances Hart.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, April 22 at Garfield Heights Church of Christ 2842 S. Shelby St., Indianapolis, Indiana.
Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Visitation from 2-8 PM Friday, April 21 at Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel, 3333 E. Thompson Rd.
