Guston W. Godbey

Guston W. Godbey, 83, of Beech Grove Road in Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the residence of his son. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on April 28, 1926, son of the late Everett and Vida Lee Godbey. He was an employee for Kingsford Charcoal and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Science Hill. He was an avid gardener and a member of Senior Friends. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force vetaran. He is survived by two sons, Albert & (Diana) Godbey of Cincinnati, OH and Michael & (Debra) Godbey of Science Hill; one brother, David & (Inez) Godbey of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters, Mary Sneed of Yosemite, Quilla Roberts of Somerset, Nannie & (Jesse) Parton of Liberty and Ollie Godbey of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Joseph Godbey, Matthew & (Crissy) Godbey, Adam & (Aimee) Godbey and Anthony Godbey; two step grandchildren, James & (Michele) Strickland and Rachel & (Brandon) Morrow; two great-grandchildren, James Michael Godbey and Lucas Michael Stephen Morrow and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Irene Jones Godbey, who died on December 26, 2008; his parents and one brother, Edgar Godbey. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 20, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Lawson and Bro. Gary Evans officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
