Claude Hubert Absher, 85, of East Highway 452, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Occonnita, Virginia on August 13, 1923, son of the late Andrew Jackson and Annie Mae Temple Absher. He was a truck driver for Eldridge Truck Line until his retirement in 1981 and a member of Etna Church of Christ. He was a three-year veteran of World War II, serving in the European and Pacific theaters of operation.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lucille Bishop Absher, whom he married on July 14, 1945, three sons, Don & (Judy) Absher, Ron & (Matalene) Absher, both of Science Hill and Glen & (Ruth) Absher of Somerset, five grandchildren, Monty & (Angela) Absher of Richmond, KY, Marci Absher & (her fiance`, Tyler) of Hayden, AL, Matthew & (Alyssa) Absher of Science Hill, Darron Absher of Loveland, OH and Jonathan Absher of Science Hill, four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Emma Absher of Richmond and Cameran and Aedyn Absher of Science Hill and two half brothers, Tommy & (Martie) Absher of St. George, UT and Lonnie & (Kandis) Absher of Verda, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four half sisters, Ruth Shultz Upton, Barbara Whitaker, Myrtle Dowden and Opal Absher and one half brother, Charles Absher.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 24, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Loren Stevens officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
