Charles P. "June" Abbott Jr.

Charles P. "June" Abbott Jr., 79, of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of New Castle, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Eubank, Kentucky on March 10, 1930, son of the late Charles P. Abbott I and Beulah Hutchison Abbott. He retired from Modernfold Industries in New Castle, Indiana, having worked there from 1957 to 1992. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a life time member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was also a member of Moose Club and Golden Eagles Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Irene Catchen Abbott of Somerset, one son, Charles P. Abbott III of Columbus, IN, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Glenda Sears of Somerset and Anna Jewell Osborne of Dayton, OH and seven nieces and nine nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Abbott. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Stallsworth officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
