Maggie Ellen Poynter Burnett

May 2, 1924 — May 9, 2006

Maggie Ellen Phelps Poynter Burnett, daughter of the late George Allen and Rilda Ellen Burkhart Phelps, was born in the Bent Community on May 2, 1924 and departed this life on May 9, 2006 at the age of 82 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved quilting, gardening and loved her deer and birds. She is survived by three sons, Dale Poynter and Rick & (Velma) Poynter both of Linton, Indiana and Gary & (Helen) Poynter of Eubank, a daughter, Carolyn & (Londis) Carlton, sixteen grandchildren, twenty, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonzo Poynter, her second husband, Clarence Burnett, her parents, a son, James Walter Poynter, a daughter, Patricia Marie Poynter, three brothers, Charles, James and Robert Phelps, six sisters, Bea Harper, Mae Hargis, Lottie Smiley, Elsie Bray, Lora Phelps and Flora Alexander, a grandchild, Drum Nelson Poynter and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Don Branscum officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation after 6 PM Thursday. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
