David R. Gentry, son of the late Richard and Maude Poteet Gentry was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on August 10, 1929 and departed this life on June 12, 2006 at the age of 76 years.
He was a retired school teacher having taught at Princeton Junior High School in Cincinnati, Woodstock Elementary and the Pulaski County School system. He retired after 30 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a daughter, Renee & (Marty) Mayer of Somerset, five sons, David & (Minnie) Gentry of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dale & (Sherry) Gentry of Burlington, Kentucky and Dennis & (Kim) Gentry, Dean & (Karen) Gentry and Doug Gentry all of Cincinnati, Ohio, two brothers, Billy & (Jean) Gentry of Brodhead and Lee & (Hannah) Gentry of Richmond, three sisters, Nellie & (Claire) Ratley of Cincinnati, Norma & (Daniel) Stevens of Dayton, Ohio and Nina Kline of Cincinnati, fifteen grandchildren, Trey, Kirby and Tyler Mayer all of Somerset, Rick & (Denise) Gentry of Corona, CA, Ken Gentry of Salt Lake City, UT, Stacy & (Ben) Beuhler of Salt Lake City, Julie & (Dustin) Hardman of Las Vegas, NV, Ginger & (Jason) Jones of Union, KY, Misty Feltner of Florence, KY, Angie & (Jim) Lee of Cincinnati, OH, Beth & (Steve) Duppstadt of Cincinnati, Sara Gentry of Cincinnati Victor Gentry of Cincinnati, Kevin Gentry of Cincinnati and Doug Gentry, Jr. of U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan, ten great-grandchildren, Emily and Kelsea Gentry of San Diego, Amber and Lindsey Gentry of Corona, Jayne and Jared Gentry of Salt Lake City, Kylie Feltner of Florence, Hannah and Thomas Jack Jones of Union and Faith Lynn Hardman of Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie F. Price Gentry, whom he married on February 11, 1949 and who died on April 1, 2005, his parents, a daughter, Janice Kay, who died on June 30, 1976 and a sister, Norene Manis.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with the Gentry family officiating.
Burial will be in Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation after 6 PM Tuesday.
