Joseph "Joe" Farmer, 68, of East Langdon Road in Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on January 31, 1941, son of the late Charlie and Bessie Vallandingham Farmer. He was a farmer and retired factory worker at G.E., though one of his best occupations was being a grandfather. He was a lifetime member of Science Hill Church of the Nazarene but attended Eagle Heights Church. Joe was a 1962 graduate of Eubank High School and enjoyed golf, Kentucky basketball and Nascar. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Patrick Farmer, whom he married on September 24, 1960, one son, Joseph Scott & (Robin) Farmer of Somerset, two special granddaughters, Whitney Jo Farmer and Andrea Brooke Farmer, one brother, Durward & (LaDonna) Farmer of Lawrenceburg, IN, five sisters, Dovie Eads, Julia Adams and Katherine Keong, all of Cincinnati, OH, Loraine Hines of Alamosa, CO and Agnes & (Sunny) Wesley of Elmwood, OH, sister-in-law, Flonnie Farmer of Tipp City, OH and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kelly Lance Farmer, four brothers, Edgar Farmer, Delmar Farmer, Marion Vallandingham and Frank Farmer and one sister, Josephine Farmer. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation for Joe Farmer will be after 5 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Eagle Heights Oasis Care Center or the American Cancer Society. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
