Mildred M. Taylor, 88, of Corbin, Kentucky, formerly of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Baptist Regional Hospital in Corbin.
She was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on September 21, 1921, daughter of the late Walter and Lola McGahan Bloomer. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She attended Science Hill School and was married in Science Hill. She was active in her church, a Girl Scout leader and an avid gardener.
She is survived by four daughters, Vivian Taylor Kruzich of Rock Spring, GA, Sharon Taylor McDonnell and her husband, Larry of Chattanooga, TN, Ruby Taylor Stumpff and her husband, Michael of Hickory, NC and Sue Taylor Adkins and her husband, Roy of Blue Creek, OH, one brother, Jack Bloomer of Knoxville, TN, three sisters, Marquerite Rowe of Clarksville, TN and Anna Lee Cox and Norma Towe, both of Dayton, OH, eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Five of her grandchildren have served in the military.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Taylor, her parents, son-in-law, Al Kruzich, one brother, Clarence Bloomer and two sisters, Teresa Bloomer Rutherford and Ilene Bloomer, who died in infancy.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 28, 2009 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 AM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
