Clarence Elbert Skaggs

November 29, 1915 — June 29, 2006

Clarence Elbert "Crit" Skaggs, son of the late Lorn and Emmer Jane Brockman Skaggs, was born in Jamestown, Kentucky on November 29, 1915 and departed this life on June 29, 2006 at the age of 90 years. He was retired from Cumberland Wood and Chair and was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Burton Skaggs of Somerset, whom he married on December 25, 1937, two sons, Everett & (Nina) Skaggs of Somerset and Gary & (Delores) Skaggs of Lexington, three daughters, Sadie & (Denton) Barron of Somerset, Charlotte & (Arthur) Short of Georgetown and Rita & (Eddie) Phelps of Somerset, three brothers, Carl Skaggs of Indianapolis, Indiana and Howard Skaggs and James Skaggs both of Jamestown, three sisters, Mae Wooldridge, Martha Antle and Maudie Wooldridge all of Jamestown, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son who died in infancy, Jerry Lee Skaggs, a brother, O.L. "Cricket" Skaggs, a sister, Maggie Western, and three grandchildren, Joyce Ann Smith, Kathy Jean Barron and Mark Anthony Ramsey. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 3, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Visitation after 6 PM Sunday. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
