Juanita Koger

Juanita Koger, daughter of the late William H. and Maude Converse Elliott, was born in Whitley County, Kentucky on September 23, 1927 and departed this life on July 2, 2006 at the age of 78 years. She was a retired Registered Nurse for the Communities of Oakwood in Somerset, Kentucky. She earned her R.N. license in 1975 and practiced nursing at numerous places in Somerset before ending her career at Oakwood. She is survived by her husband, Carter Wilson Koger, whom she married on May 16, 1956, a daughter, Kathy Popplewell of Somerset, a son, Carter Wilson Koger, Jr. of Somerset, three sisters, Louise Rose of Corbin, Billie Sears of Aurora, Illinois and Joyce & (Ken) Bollinger of Jefferson City, Missouri, a brother-in-law, Kenneth & (Joyce) Koger of Joliet, Illinois, six grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Popplewell, Caroline Koger, William and Brian Withers and Deanna & (Shawn) West, three great-grandchildren, Destiny Withers, Aaron West and Tori Beth Withers, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and long time friend and care-taker, Nadine Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Donna Koger Withers and Carol Koger, who died in infancy, two nephews, Allen and Billy Koger, grandparents, mother and father-in-law, Willie and Artie Koger and two brothers-in-law, "Doc" Rose and Jerry Sears. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, London, Kentucky. Visitation after 9 AM Wednesday. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangments.
