Bobby Dean Morris

Bobby Dean Morris, 79, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Stone Crest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee. He was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky on January 15, 1930, son of the late Rannell and Beulah Sebastian Morris. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years as a master sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of VFW and American Legion. He was employed for 18 years as a golf course superintendent at Smyrna Golf Course in Smyrna, TN, Cole Park Golf Course in Ft. Campbell, KY and Woodmont Country Club Golf Course in Franklin, TN. He was an avid golfer and animal lover and especially loved his cats, Bart and Rocky. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Jean Hines Morris, whom he married on December 20, 1952, three sisters, Evanda & (Donald) Reynolds of Covington, KY, Mildred & (James) Rice of Erlanger, KY and Motricia & (Larry) Bakken of Pompano Beach, FL, one brother, Buddy Hicks of Louisiana, sister-in-law, Lois Ann Grabeel of Eubank and several nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to friends and caregivers, Mary Adcock, Julie Peterson, nieces and nephews who helped sit with him until death, Dee Dee Stephens, Theresa Ard, Greg and Trina Stephens and Deric & Lisa Hines. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Morris. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 PM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Science Hill Garden Club. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
