Guy E. Sumpter

Guy E. Sumpter, 87, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Danville Center Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Nancy, Kentucky on September 10, 1922, son of the late Jeptha Louis and Lillie Mae Adams Sumpter. He was past owner of Flasher Neon Sign Company. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Linda Joyce Barrier Sumpter of Somerset, three children, Barbara Sumpter, Brenda Bryant and Jep Sumpter, three grandchildren, Jep Sumpter, Kristin Shramovich and Benjamin "B.J." Bryant and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Keegan and Emerson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Francis Gragg Sumpter, his parents, four brothers, John, Homer, Jesse and Ray Sumpter and three sisters, Bea Dalton, Odie Allen and Darbie Cobble. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 10 AM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
