Virgil Oliver Haste

Virgil Oliver Haste, 71, of Hobart Lane in Bethelridge, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on June 23, 1938, son of the late Jason and Abbie Warren Haste. He was a member of Bethelridge United Methodist Church. He sang with quartets most of his life. He started singing at the early age of ten with his younger brother Harold and nephews, Louis Randolph and Ronald Haste. He later sang with his uncle, Arnold "Monge" Haste's sons known as the Haste Family. He then started singing with the Bethelridge Quartet before singing with the Happy Travelers. He was a retired farmer. Virgil is survived by one brother, Harold Lee Haste of Mt. Olive, Kentucky and one sister, Sarah Jane Hendricks of Eubank. He is also survived by two step sons, two step daughters, six step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, seven nieces and eight nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Hobert Haste, one sister, Mazie Morris, two nephews, Rick Hendricks and Daniel "Boonie" Haste and one step grandchild. He will be greatly missed by family who loved him dearly and a host of friends. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Bethelridge United Methodist Church with Bro. Gene Sweet, Bro. Doug Stutz and Bro. Ray Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Bethelridge Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 12 Noon Thursday at the church. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
