Sidney K. Phelps

Sidney K. Phelps, 77, of Highway 39 in Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Britthaven Nursing Home. He was born in the Wilburn Community on January 5, 1933, son of the late William and Sally Stogsdill Phelps. He worked for Cumberland Wood & Chair and Kingsford Charcoal. He also hauled milk and was a member of the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Fayrene Barron Phelps of Somerset, one son, Timothy Phelps of Somerset, two daughters, Melissa & (Tim) Wesley of Science Hill and Tonya & (Jason) McKnight of Casey County, KY, one sister, Maxine Lovins of Somerset, nine grandchildren, Latara Wesley, Tiffany Wesley, Tim Wesley Jr., Thomas Wesley, Tyler Wesley, Lasha Wesley, Kelsey Rene Phelps, Hunter McKnight and Tanner McKnight, two great-grandchildren, Jazlyn Shelton and Tayen McQueen, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Fisher and Bro. Steve Wesley officiating Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
