Floyd C. "Whitie" Hargis

Floyd C. "Whitie" Hargis, son of the late Barney and Myrtle Phelps Hargis, was born in Dykes, Kentucky on July 23, 1933 and departed this life on September 26, 2006 at the age of 73 years. He retired from General Motors in Norwood, Ohio. He is survived by two daughters, Melenie & (John) Sander of Somerset and Valerie VanNortwick of Williamsburg, Ohio, four brothers, Jewell & (Geneva) Hargis of Mt. Carmel, Ohio, Coy & (Effie Mae) Hargis and Russell & (Betty) Hargis both of White Lily, Kentucky and Merrel & (Barbara) Hargis of Norwood, Ohio, two sisters, Shirley Wells of East Gate, Ohio and Eletha "Lisa" Gilbert of Norwood, Ohio and five grandchildren, Andrew VanNortwick, Matthew McElhaney, John Sander, Jr., IV, David Sander and Ann Marie Shaw. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marlenea Henson Hargis, his parents and two brothers-in-law, J.C. Wells and Denver Gilbert. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 29, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. William Billy Hargis officiating. Burial will be in the Hargis Family Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
