Roy Lee Godbey

Roy Lee Godbey, 70, of Burnside, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on July 13, 1939, son of the late Albert Lane and Flora Belle Rector Godbey. He was a retired factory worker and mechanic. He was a faithful member of Mt. Union Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Fern E. Chappell Godbey, whom he married on May 27, 1960, two sons, Ricky L. Godbey & (Marc Hopkins) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Timothy R. & (Karen) Godbey of Williamson, WV, one daughter, Angela M. & (James) Bender of Stanford, KY, seven grandchildren, Jonathan Keith of Bloomington, IN, Timothy R. Godbey Jr. of Madison, WV, Haleigh Blackburn of Williamson, WV, Aaron M. Godbey of Clarksville, TN, Joshua S. Blackburn of Williamson, WV, Hannah R. Godbey of Clarksville, TN and Caitlyn P. Godbey of Clarksville, TN, one great-grandchild, Hannah Grace Johnson of South Point, OH, one brother, Gordon Godbey of Honeybee, KY and three sisters, Vernell Ogburn and Pauline Staples, both of Louisville, KY and Jewell Wilson of Cleveland, OH. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Perry Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Roy Lee Godbey. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
