Delbert Cecil Lovins, son of the late Jonathan and Rebecca Russell Lovins, was born in Somerset, Kentucky on June 9, 1918 and departed this life on September 30, 2006 at the age of 88 years.
He was retired from a steel plant as a galvanizer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII and attaining the rank of Private First Class.
He is survived by two sons, Gilbert & (Gayle) Lovins of Cincinnati, Ohio and Gene & (Georgetta) Lovins of Goeshen, Ohio, a brother, Clarence Lovins of Somerset, a sister, Christine Baker of Charleston, Indiana, six grandchildren, Tony & (Michelle) Lovins, Michele & (Steve) Pohlmann, Kerrie Montgomery, Douglas E. Lovins, Miranda Lovins and Mariah Lovins, seven great-grandchildren, Alex and Stacey Lovins, Tyler and Emma Pohlmann, Gregory Lovins and Hannah and Luke Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlie Prows Lovins, whom he married in 1946 and who died on March 30, 2002, his parents, eight brothers, Richard, Noah, Charlie, Dewey, Willie, Marcus, Hobert and Edward Lovins and seven sisters, Tempi, Lucy, Sarah, Jane, Rose, Lily and Mary.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 6, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Blevins officiating.
Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
