Gilbert Earl Burdine

Gilbert Earl Burdine, son of the late Thurman and Vena Mearl Goodin Burdine, was born on May 31, 1947 and departed this life on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at the age of 59 years. He was a retired Captain for the Somerset Fire Department, a truck driver for Tri-State, a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member ot the Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by his wife, Jean Mills Burdine; two sons, Arlis &(his wife, Diana) Burdine, the son of Helen Vanover Meece, of Acorn, KY; Justin Burdine, the son of Jean Mills Burdine, of Burnside, KY; a daughter, Trinka McDowell of West Virginia; two brothers, Von &(his wife, Candy) Burdine and James "Steve" & (his wife, Bobbi Jo) Burdine, both of Somerset; four sisters, Geraldine &(her husband, Todd) Marsee , Vickie &( her husband, Mike) Meece, both of Somerset; Charlotte Harp of Radcliff, KY and Lisa Deaton of London, KY; four grandchildren, Justin & Keiley Brown, Denny & Joshua Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Emajane Burdine, two nieces, Christine Crane and Kristy Lashley and a sister-in-law, Ida Marie Burdine. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wed., Oct. 25, 2006 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, with Bro's. Raymond Ridner and Russell Wilson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 and Fireman services will be conducted by the Somerset Fire Department. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tues., Oct. 24, 2006 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
