Boyd R. Murphy

Boyd R. Murphy, 89, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in North Field, Kentucky on October 30, 1920, son of the late Henry and Pearle Rowe Murphy. He was owner of Accurate Key & Lock in Seattle, WA. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Elva Lucille Mayfield Murphy, whom he married on October 18, 1982, six children, Colleen Murphy & (Lonny Cohee Sr.) of Grand Junction, CO; Michael & (Melanie) Murphy of Cowiche, WA; Patrick Murphy of Yakima, WA; Kevin Murphy of Lake Forest Park, WA; Davida Williams of Ramona, CA and Theresa Murphy of Bethelridge, KY, four step-daughters, Devonda & (Dean) Griffin of McKinney, KY; Patsy & (Brent) Gilpin of Danville, KY; Hilda & (Barry) Back of Eubank; and Glenda & (Tim) Hines of Science Hill; two brothers, Pete & (Sharon) Murphy of Russell Springs, KY and Russell & (Ivadean) Murphy of Somerset; one sister, Eveline Haynes of Middleton, OH, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was the beloved "Pa" to Allison and special friend of Coy Back and many other friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers, Herbert, Elmer, William, Ernest, Waymon, Henry Jr., Kenneth and Lawrence Murphy. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Daulton and Bro. Charles Meece officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
