Ruby Chaney Dyer, daughter of the late Elmer and Addie Bishop Chaney, was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on December 4, 1925 and departed this life on November 4, 2006 at the age of 80 years.
She was a retired jewelery clerk for Rose's Department Store and a member of Somerset Church of Christ. She was a KY Colonel and was a foster grandparent for 19 years with Southern Middle School and Communities of Oakwood. She was also KY State Senior Bowling Champion in 1987 and still a member of a bowling league.
She is survived by a son, Rick & (Shaun) Dyer of Somerset, a daughter, Shirley & (Curtis) Lester of Berea, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Jennifer Lester of Cynthiana, Kentucky, David Lester of Berea, Jeff Lester of Berea and Matthew Dyer of Barnesburg, two great-grandchildren, Tony Lester and Jessica Lester both of Lexington, Kentucky and two step grandchildren, Mandy Curtis and Jasie Curtis both of Barnesburg.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, William Dyer, her parents, a daughter-in-law, Eva "Peanut" Dyer, two brothers, Emmitt Chaney and Estil Chaney and three sisters, Gertrude Price, May Clark and Evelyn Tyree.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Willie Ramsey officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at the funeral home.
