Joseph E. Dowling Jr.

Joseph E. Dowling Jr., 63, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky on May 3, 1947, son of the late Joseph Dowling Sr. and Louise Abell Dowling. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Plastics, a manager for Dairy Queen and an agent for Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a member of St. Mildred Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wells Dowling of Somerset, two brothers, Bill Dowling of Bowling Green and Ricky & (Valerie) Dowling of Campbellsville, KY, brother-in-law, Arthur Wells of Science Hill and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucy Mudd. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 14, 2010 at St. Mildred Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Ramler officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:30 PM Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and after 9 AM Thursday at St. Mildred Catholic Church. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
