George Winferd Baker

George Winferd Baker, son of the late George Ratliff and Jeanetta Poynter Baker, was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on December 30, 1933 and departed this life on November 16, 2006 at the age of 72 years. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He is survived by two sons, George Baker, Jr., of Maryland and Joseph Baker of Amelia, Ohio, a daughter, Mary Ann Gay of Pennsylvania, a brother, William & (Kay) Baker of Georgetown, Ohio, two sisters, Shirley Collins and Freida Rickey both of Dayton, Ohio, an uncle, John Baker of Batavia, Ohio, a niece, Kathy Rose of Clayton, Ohio, a nephew, Robert Kordalis of Clayton, Ohio, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Poplarville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Poplarville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
