Edna Mae Surber Young, 91, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Eubank, Kentucky on February 21, 1919, daughter of the late Fred and Colletta Walls Surber. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, reading and doing word searches. She was the oldest living member of Science Hill Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Wayne & (JoAnne) Young and Jerry & (Lore) Young, both of Science Hill, two daughters, Joyce Ruckel of Somerset and Velma & (Thomas) Broyles of Evansville, IN, four grandchildren, Chris & (Brenda) Ruckel of Stanford, KY, Phillip Ruckel of Lawrenceburg, KY, Holly & (DJ) Pevley of Eubank and Travis Young of Science Hill and one great-granddaughter, Christy Ruckel of Stanford. She is also survived by one brother, Charles & (Doris) Surber of Cincinnati, OH, three sisters, Irene Dellinger of Thomasville, PA, Iva & (Chuck) Harrington of Cincinnati, OH and Lorene Davidson of St. Charles, IL, sister-in-law, Sadie Surber, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Young, whom she married on March 5, 1943 and who died on October 23, 1967, her parents, three brothers, Victor Surber, Howard Surber and Lawrence Surber and two sisters, Marie Surber Phelps and Myrtle Surber. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 1, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Charles Surber and Bro. Charles Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
