Jonas W. Brown, Jr., son of Jonas W. Brown, Sr., and Ora McKinney Brown was born on Aug. 6, 1925 and departed this life on Wed., Nov. 25, 2006 at the age of 81 years.
He was a farmer, a member of the Somerset-Pulaski Co. Rescue Squad for 15 yrs., Woodstock Masonic Lodge #639, a Kentucky Colonel, the Sons of the Confederate Soldiers and the Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia B. (Reynolds) Brown, whom he married on Aug. 5, 1946.
Three children blessed this union, Jonas W. Brown, III and his wife, Brenda of Eubank; Donnie Brown and his friend, Carol of Woodstock and Judy Carter and her husband, Joe of Somerset. He has three grandsons, Jackson Carter and Jesse Carter, both of Somerset and Justin Carter of Ft. Riley, Kansas; a niece, Linda Adams of Brodhead, KY and a nephew, Larry McPheron of Monticello, KY; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, who died in infancy, William Franklin Brown and a daughter -in-law, Shirley Vanhook Brown.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sat., Nov. 25, 2006 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, with Bro. Marvin Cromer, officiating.
Masonic services will be 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home by the Woodstock Masonic Lodge # 639.
Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2006.
