Leondis Adkins, son of the late Furman and Mattie Phelps Adkins, was born on March 31, 1928 in Somerset, KY and departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 in Indianapolis, IN, at the age of 78 years.
He was an inspector for the Ford Motor Company for 30 years.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Burge Terrace Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Fultz Adkins, who he married on June 5, 1955; a daughter, Jean Shields of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Leonard & (his wife, Hazel) Adkins of Indianapolis, IN; and a sister, Lexie & ( her husband, L.B.) Ridener of Brownsburg, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brohters, Lewis, Lloyd, Luther and Lonzo Adkins and three sisters, Lena Inabnitt, Lema Shepherd and LouEmma Cook.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at the Pine Thickett Cemetery with Bro. Gary Cook, officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Thickett Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 prior to the graveside services.
