Cuba Sowder Chaney

Cuba Sowder Chaney, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Isabelle Shiplet Sowder, was born in Line Creek, Kentucky on May 23, 1919 and departed this life on December 13, 2006 at the age of 87 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Larry Chaney of Somerset and Tommy & (Frances) Chaney of Mt. Vernon, a daughter-in-law, Bertean Chaney of Somerset, a sister, Jessie Mize of Lebanon, Ohio, four grandchildren, Rhonda & (Benny) Burdine, Teresa & (Bobby) Cromer, Jessica & (Kevin) Blevins and Tommy Chaney, Jr. and six great-grandchildren, Calista and Brian Burdine, Natasha and Dustin Cromer and Marina and Jeremiah Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chaney, who died on February 9, 1983, her parents, a son, Bobby Chaney, two brothers, Bruce and Casper Sowder and three sisters, Edna Norton, Ruby McKinney and Wanda Munsey. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Proffitt officiating. Burial will be in Upper Line Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 PM Saturday. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
