Kenneth "Kenny" Salyers, 79 of Von Street in Somerset, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Casey County, Kentucky on May 17, 1927, son of the late George Wesley and Mary Ballenger Salyers. He was a truck driver for Roadway Express and a member of Tri-County Nazarene in Fairfield, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Miller Salyers of Somerset, whom he married on April 11, 1959, three daughters, Jeanetta & (Richard) Ponchot and Debbie & (Ryan) Sowder both of Liberty Township, Ohio and Sherry & (Jeffrey) Babb of Hamilton, Ohio, one sister, Millie Caldwell of Science Hill, two half sisters, Louise Thompson of Williamstown, KY and Nancy Wilcher of Hustonville, KY and six grandchildren, Tyler Ponchot, Jenna Ponchot, Brandon Ponchot, Justin Sowder, Zachary Sowder and Mollie Babb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Terrell, Oakley and Hobert Salyers, two sisters, Maudie Foley Padgett and Montie Elliott and one precious grandchild, Jessica Babb.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, March 5, 2007 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill with Bro. Melvin Caldwell officiating.
Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy go to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
