Alice Mildred McWilliams, 99, of Eubank, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center.
She was born August 21, 1924 in the Etna Community; daughter of the late George Oather & Martha Jane (Ping) Evans. On November 8, 1947, she married David McWilliams and they were married 74 years. Together, they raised a family and farmed, growing strawberries, peppers, cucumbers, and many acres of tobacco. She was a homemaker, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. During WWII, she lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she worked in a factory making supplies for the troops. During her 99 years on this earth, she saw lots of changes. She was very proud of her children, seeing them become successful adults, having children, and then seeing her grandchildren have children, who were treasures to her. She was a member of the Woodstock Baptist Church. Walking, gardening, spending time with her family, and babysitting her grandchildren were some of her joys in life.
She is survived by a son, Steve & (Sandra) McWilliams; two daughters, Patty & (Pat) Patterson and Stephanie Crowe; five grandchildren, Ryan & (Missy) McWilliams, Shelley & (Jonathan) Alford, Suzanne & (Derek) Todd, Patrick & (Jessie) Patterson, and Bradley & (Lindsey) Crowe; eleven great-grandchildren, Sharla Alford, Justin Alford, Ross Todd, Shelby McWilliams, Jake Alford, Josh Alford, Layla Todd, Nolan Todd, Gavin McWilliams, Sabrina Alford, and Benjamin Crowe; and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David McWilliams; her parents; two brothers, Wilmer Evans and Delmas Evans; six sisters, Hazel Fields, Violet Bell, Mary Losie Bishop, Betty Abbott, Maxine McCord, and Alma McDonald.
