Betty Joyce Dick Elliott, age 81 of Science Hill, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Hospice Unit in Somerset, Kentucky.
She was born in Hogue, Kentucky on July 17, 1943, daughter of the late Holbert Dick and Neattie Haggard Dick. Betty worked 35 years in the banking industry however, her most treasured time was the 10 years she spent working at Science Hill School as part of the staff. Many, many times she said those were the best years of her life and the very best job she ever had.
Her love for God and her family will truly be her legacy. With a heart full of faith and a deep love for both God and her family, Betty lived a life of devotion, leaving behind a legacy of grace, compassion, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire us all. Another of Betty's loves was Northside Baptist Church. The love she had for this church and congregation were immense. She loved her family with all her heart but her pride and joy were granddaughter, Shyianna Elliott Hoskins and her great-granddaughter, Hensley Ray Hoskins.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Rod Elliott; her daughter, Peggy Elliott Sewell; her son, Randy Elliott; her granddaughter, Shyianna (Donald) Hoskins; her great-granddaughter, Hensley Ray Hoskins; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Linda Elliott; sister-in-law, Patricia McKee; step sister-in-law, Shirley Butt; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Gid and Ivadean Elliott; her brothers, Lonnie Noel Dick and Othel Dick; her step-mother, Hazel Dick; her step-brothers, William Billy Butt and Jim Butt; a brother-in-law, Gene McKee; her sisters-in-law, Glyness Dick, Jearleen Dick, and Marletta Butt; and a niece, Donna Butt Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Chestnut officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time for services.
Pallbearers will be Randy Elliott, Donald Hoskins, Chris Soloman, Mason Holt, Monroe Hoskins, Curtis Carrender, Charlie Carrender, and Daniel Griffis.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take form of donations to the Northside Baptist Church of Science Hill or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
