Bonnie Darlene Barnett

Bonnie Darlene Barnett, 73, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at her residence.

She was born November 5, 1949 in Pulaski County, Kentucky; daughter of the late Gilbert Lee & Alene (Farmer) Barnett. She worked as an Emergency Room Technician for the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and was a former employee with Social Services. Darlene was also the owner and operator of Hyden's Grocery in Mt. Victory, Kentucky. Throughout her lifetime, she participated in numerous community organizations including the Salvation Army, the Somerset & Pulaski County Rescue Squad, the Pulaski County Fire & Resue, the Pulaski County EMT Association, and the Awana's Club, at which she also taught their youth program. Darlene enjoyed crafts, gardening, and restoration of antique furniture. She was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Gary Douglas Lanigan II & (Vanessa Lanigan) of Eubank; grandsons, Dustin Lee & (Sheyanne) Lanigan of Somerset and Devin Lucas Lanigan of Science Hill; siblings, Martha Louise Barnett of Corbin, John & (Bonnie) Barnett of Burnside, and Ben & (Tonja) Barnett of Ruth, Kentucky; and special friends, Kenny Brown & Joetta Kennedy.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dan Barnett.

A celebration of life will be held 7:00 PM Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jeffrey Griffith officiating.

The family has requested expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Poplarville Cemetery Fund or the Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
