Flossie Payne Winstead Long, 94, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
She was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on March 8, 1930 to the late William Conley and Ella Mae Farmer Payne. She was happy living her entire life in the same community surrounded by family and friends she loved. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she enjoyed serving her community with a smile and warm greeting for everyone. She was a devoted wife, a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Attending Estesburg Church of Christ, where she was a longtime member, was her highest priority. She loved her church family where many were her lifelong friends. Her greatest joy came from providing a loving home for her family to gather where she always had wonderful food and a warm welcome. She was always ready to help anyone in need and will be remembered for her incredible strength, and as a kind and generous person who lit up a room with warmth and love.
She is survived by her children, Jim & (Jenny) Winstead and Mark Winstead of Science Hill, Dianna Winstead and Melissa Winstead of Somerset; three grandchildren, Sherry & (Jimmy Don) Snowden of Texas, Rick Winstead of Science Hill, and Clint & (Natalie) Winstead of Science Hill; four great-grandchildren, Lareesa Daws of Eubank, Rowdy Snowden of Texas, and Ryder and Sawyer Winstead of Science Hill; and one great-great-granddaughter, Riplee Daws of Eubank.
