Howard Lewis West, Jr., originally of Beech Grove, Kentucky, was called home on February 14th, 2025. A lifelong farmer and truck driver, he was a dedicated man that loved his family and worked hard to provide for them, no matter how many hours or miles it took.
Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Verna "Shorty" Mae West, their daughter Danielle West, and his parents, Howard and Mildred West.
He is survived by a daughter, Jerri Jasper; a son, Adam (and Korey) West; grandchildren, Hannah (and Nick) Navigato, Leanna Jasper, Caleb (and Jenny and Inés Chmely) Jasper, Eelan West, and Everly West; his sisters, Connie Burton and Clara (and Lester) Randolph, and his brother Rick (and Donette) West.
Lewis had a lifelong passion for fast cars, and spent many evenings at the local dragstrip. He also worked many summers at Lake Cumberland Speedway, assisting with managing the racers and photography.
He will be remembered by his numerous family and friends as a hard-working man who would do anything he could to help those he cared about. Services will be held at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home of Science Hill, KY.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 11 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home until time for services.
