Jerry Allen

Jerry Mark Allen, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed on January 16, 2025 at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

He was born July 31, 1960 to the late George and Dorthy Allen in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith and many of his happy childhood memories included his mother bringing him to church and listening to the old time gospel songs. He loved listening to and playing the guitar to bluegrass, country, and gospel music. He adored his family and his fur-babies (cats). He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee. He practiced for years in his chosen profession, caring for sick, helpless, well, and weak animals. His favorite part of veterinary medicine was surgery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorthy (Hickey) Allen; and two brothers, James Allen and Ray Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Ann Leigh Allen, whom he married August 9, 1997 at Glenwood Baptist Church in Eubank, Kentucky; a special niece, Stacey (Darron) Absher, of Science Hill, Kentucky; a special nephew, Kevin (Cierra) Wesley, of Lexington, Kentucky; great nieces and nephew whom he cherished, Maddie-Sue Absher, Leighcy Absher, Coraline Wesley, and Easton Wesley; one brother, Tony (Jeanette) Allen, of Algood, Tennessee; one sister, Susie Flatt, of Tampa, Florida; and a host of long time loving friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The Lord called him home to take care of his fur babies that have crossed the rainbow bridge. The family is asking for prayers.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Williams officiating.

Eternal resting place will be Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time for services.
