Kenneth E. Cress, 73, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 with his family by his side.

He was born in Squib, Kentucky on January 16, 1946, son of the late Edd and Pansy Ping Cress. Ken was a graduate from Shopville High Shcool. He later returned to serve as custodian for 18 years. He loved his job and the children loved him. Ken served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam as a corpsman. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He attended Southern Heights Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Luttrell Cress, one son, Mark & (Christina) Cress of Somerset, one daughter, Kendra & (Vence) Burke of Burnside, four granddaughters, Taylor Williams, Mackenzie Cress, Morgan Cress and Emily Burke, one grandson, Corey Burke , three sisters, Ludema & (James) Hawk of Somerset, Linda & (Phil) Mize of Shopville and Dotty Flynn of Bronston, numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Alden Cress, Norman Cress, Clinton Cress and Ronald Cress and four sisters, June Meece, August Keller, Jane Griffin and Arlene Hibbard.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 25, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Paddick, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38.

Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

The family requests donations be made to Southern Heights Christian Church.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
